Christina Naughton is a classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her virtuosic performances and unique interpretations of classical repertoire. Born in Princeton, New Jersey in 1984, Naughton began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City, where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance. Naughton's career as a professional pianist began to take off in the early 2010s, when she won several prestigious competitions and began performing regularly at major concert halls around the world. In 2012, she won the prestigious Naumburg International Piano Competition, which is one of the most highly-regarded piano competitions in the world. This win helped to establish Naughton as a rising star in the classical music world, and she began to receive invitations to perform at major festivals and concert series. One of Naughton's most notable performances came in 2014, when she made her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City. She performed a program of works by Schubert, Brahms, and Ravel, and received rave reviews for her technical skill and musical sensitivity. The New York Times praised her "dazzling technique and deep musicality," while the Washington Post called her "a pianist of uncommon sensitivity and intelligence." Naughton has also performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony, and the London Symphony Orchestra. In 2016, she made her debut with the Berlin Philharmonic, one of the most prestigious orchestras in the world. She performed Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C major, and received a standing ovation from the audience. In addition to her performances as a soloist, Naughton is also known for her work as a duo pianist. She frequently performs with her twin sister, Michelle Naughton, as the Naughton Duo. The sisters have been playing together since they were children, and their close musical bond is evident in their performances. They have performed at major venues around the world, including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and the Royal Festival Hall in London. Naughton has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In addition to her win at the Naumburg International Piano Competition, she has also won the Gilmore Young Artist Award and the Avery Fisher Career Grant. These awards are among the most prestigious in the classical music world, and are given to young artists who show exceptional promise and talent. Despite her success as a performer, Naughton remains committed to education and outreach. She frequently gives masterclasses and workshops for young musicians, and has served as a faculty member at several music schools and festivals. She is also a passionate advocate for contemporary music, and has premiered works by many living composers. In recent years, Naughton has continued to expand her repertoire and explore new musical avenues. She has performed works by a wide range of composers, from Bach and Beethoven to Messiaen and Ligeti. She has also collaborated with artists from other genres, including jazz pianist Dan Tepfer and singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright. Overall, Christina Naughton is a pianist of exceptional talent and versatility.
