Period:ContemporaryModernGenre:VocalHarry Huff was born on May 15, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Harry showed a natural talent for music, and his parents encouraged him to pursue his passion. At the age of six, Harry began taking piano lessons with his mother. He quickly progressed and started performing in public at the age of eight. By the time he was ten, he had won several local piano competitions and was recognized as a prodigy. Harry continued his musical education at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the renowned pianist, Yoheved Kaplinsky. He also studied with other notable pianists, including Emanuel Ax and Murray Perahia. In 2003, Harry won the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, which is held every four years in Fort Worth, Texas. The competition is one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world, and winning it is considered a major achievement in the classical music world. Following his win at the Van Cliburn Competition, Harry began performing extensively around the world. He has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Harry is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has collaborated with many of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. Harry has recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Beethoven's Piano Concertos with the London Symphony Orchestra. He has also recorded works by Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. In addition to his performing career, Harry is also a dedicated teacher. He has taught at the Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music, and he has given masterclasses around the world. Throughout his career, Harry has received numerous awards and honors. In addition to his win at the Van Cliburn Competition, he has been awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Gilmore Artist Award, which is given every four years to a pianist who demonstrates exceptional talent and promise.
