He was born on February 14, 1924, in New York City, and grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist, which exposed him to music at an early age. Reisman began his musical career as a violinist, studying at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. However, he soon realized that his true passion was in composing and arranging music. He began working as a staff arranger for RCA Victor Records in the 1950s, where he arranged music for some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Elvis Presley, Perry Como, and Harry Belafonte. In the 1960s, Reisman began working as a conductor, leading orchestras for various recording sessions and live performances. He conducted for artists such as Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, and Frank Sinatra, and his arrangements and orchestrations were featured on many of their albums. One of Reisman's most notable works was his arrangement of the song "Moon River" for the film Breakfast at Tiffany's. The song, composed by Henry Mancini, won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1961, and Reisman's arrangement helped to make it a timeless classic. Reisman also composed his own music, including the album "The Sound of Love," which was released in 1966. The album featured Reisman's original compositions, as well as his arrangements of popular love songs.
