Sybille Diethelm is a renowned classical music artist who has made a significant contribution to the world of music. Born in Switzerland in 1961, Diethelm showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. She went on to study at the Zurich Conservatory, where she received her diploma in piano performance with honors. After completing her studies, Diethelm embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist, performing extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. She has appeared as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic. One of the highlights of Diethelm's career was her performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the Berlin Philharmonic under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. The performance was widely acclaimed by critics and audiences alike, and cemented Diethelm's reputation as one of the world's leading pianists. In addition to her work as a soloist, Diethelm is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has collaborated with many of the world's leading musicians, including violinist Maxim Vengerov and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Together with her husband, the violinist Daniel Dodds, she founded the Dodds-Diethelm Duo, which has performed extensively throughout Europe and Asia. Diethelm's repertoire is wide-ranging, encompassing works by composers from Bach to Bartok. She is particularly known for her interpretations of the music of Beethoven, Schubert, and Brahms. Her recordings of these composers' works have received critical acclaim and have won numerous awards, including the Gramophone Award and the Echo Klassik Award. In addition to her performing career, Diethelm is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught at the Zurich Conservatory and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, and has given masterclasses throughout Europe and Asia. Many of her students have gone on to successful careers as performers and teachers. Throughout her career, Diethelm has received numerous awards and honors. In 1992, she was awarded the Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes, which recognizes outstanding young musicians. In 2001, she was awarded the Swiss Ambassador's Award for her contribution to Swiss culture. In 2010, she was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her services to music. She continues to perform and teach, and is committed to sharing her love of music with audiences and students around the world.
