Josh Wright is a renowned classical pianist, composer, and educator who has captivated audiences around the world with his virtuosic performances and innovative approach to music education. Born on January 28, 1986, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Wright began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Wright's parents recognized his musical abilities early on and encouraged him to pursue his passion for music. He began taking piano lessons with renowned pianist and teacher Dr. Irene Peery-Fox at the age of five and continued to study with her for the next 15 years. Under her guidance, Wright developed a deep understanding of classical music and honed his technical skills, laying the foundation for his future success as a performer and educator. As a young pianist, Wright quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and began performing in competitions and concerts around the country. In 2000, he won first prize in the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition's Junior Division, and in 2003, he was named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts, one of the highest honors for young artists in the United States. Wright continued to excel as a pianist throughout his teenage years, winning numerous awards and accolades for his performances. In 2005, he was named the National MTNA Young Artist Piano Winner, and in 2006, he won first prize in the Music Teachers National Association's Young Artist Piano Competition. These victories cemented his reputation as one of the most promising young pianists of his generation. After graduating from high school, Wright attended the University of Utah, where he studied piano performance with Dr. Susan Duehlmeier. He continued to perform in competitions and concerts, winning first prize in the 2007 Seattle International Piano Competition and the 2008 Bachauer International Piano Competition. In 2010, Wright earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Michigan, where he studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Logan Skelton. During his time at Michigan, Wright developed a deep interest in music education and began exploring innovative ways to teach piano to students of all ages and skill levels. After completing his doctoral studies, Wright embarked on a successful career as a performer, composer, and educator. He has performed in concerts and recitals around the world, including appearances at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. He has also released several critically acclaimed albums, including "My Favorite Things," a collection of jazz-inspired arrangements of classic songs, and "Josh Wright," a collection of original compositions and classical favorites. In addition to his work as a performer and composer, Wright is also a highly respected music educator.
