Ensemble Caméléon is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2009 by a group of musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is based in Montreal, Canada, and is known for its innovative and eclectic programming, which combines classical repertoire with contemporary works and world music. The founding members of Ensemble Caméléon were flutist Marie-Hélène Breault, clarinetist Jean-François Normand, violinist Martine Gagné, cellist Élisabeth Giroux, and pianist Anne-Marie Denoncourt. All of the members were accomplished musicians who had performed with various orchestras and ensembles in Canada and abroad. The ensemble's name, Caméléon, reflects its versatility and adaptability. One of the highlights of Ensemble Caméléon's early career was its performance at the 2010 Montreal Chamber Music Festival. In 2012, Ensemble Caméléon released its debut album, entitled "Caméléon," which featured works by Mozart, Brahms, and Canadian composer André Prévost. The album received positive reviews and helped to establish the ensemble as a rising star in the Canadian classical music scene. In 2014, Ensemble Caméléon was awarded the Prix Opus for "Discovery of the Year" by the Conseil québécois de la musique. The award recognized the ensemble's outstanding contributions to the development of classical music in Quebec. Since then, Ensemble Caméléon has continued to perform regularly in Canada and abroad, and has collaborated with a wide range of musicians and artists. In 2019, Ensemble Caméléon celebrated its 10th anniversary with a series of concerts and events in Montreal and beyond. Today, Ensemble Caméléon is recognized as one of Canada's leading classical music ensembles, known for its virtuosity, versatility, and innovative programming.
