The ensemble was founded in Vilnius, Lithuania, where all three members were studying at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. They quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music and decided to form a trio. The name Di.Vi.Sion is derived from the Latin word "division," which refers to the practice of dividing a musical composition into separate parts for different instruments. From the beginning, the trio's chemistry was evident, and they quickly began to attract attention for their exceptional performances. They made their debut in 2013 at the Vilnius Philharmonic Hall, where they performed works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Shostakovich. The concert was a resounding success, and the trio was soon invited to perform at other prestigious venues throughout Lithuania and Europe. One of the highlights of the trio's early career was their performance at the 2014 Vilnius Festival, where they performed works by Schubert, Brahms, and Shostakovich. Since then, the trio has gone on to perform at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. They have also collaborated with some of the most renowned musicians in the world, including violinist Gidon Kremer and cellist Mischa Maisky. One of the most significant achievements of the trio was their victory at the 2015 Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition. The competition, which is held every two years in Norway, is one of the most prestigious chamber music competitions in the world. The trio's performance of works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Shostakovich impressed the judges, and they were awarded first prize, as well as the audience prize. The trio's success at the Trondheim competition helped to raise their profile even further, and they were soon invited to perform at some of the most prestigious festivals in the world, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Rheingau Musik Festival. In addition to their performances, the trio is also committed to promoting classical music to a wider audience. They have worked with numerous educational institutions, including the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where they have given masterclasses and workshops to young musicians. They have also collaborated with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, where they have performed works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Shostakovich.
