Patricia Thompson was born on May 15, 1985, in New York City. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Patricia showed a natural talent for music and began taking piano lessons at the age of four. As she grew older, Patricia's love for music only intensified. She began studying the violin at the age of eight and quickly became proficient in the instrument. By the time she was a teenager, she was already performing in local orchestras and winning awards for her playing. After graduating from high school, Patricia attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied under some of the most renowned violinists in the world. During her time at Juilliard, she continued to excel in her studies and was awarded numerous scholarships and awards for her playing. After graduating from Juilliard, Patricia began her professional career as a soloist and chamber musician. She quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented young violinists in the world and was invited to perform with some of the most prestigious orchestras and ensembles in the world. One of the highlights of Patricia's career came in 2008 when she was invited to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. as part of the National Symphony Orchestra's Young Soloists Competition. Her performance was widely praised by critics and audiences alike, and she was awarded first prize in the competition. In the years that followed, Patricia continued to perform at some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. She also continued to win awards for her playing, including the Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2012 and the MacArthur Fellowship in 2015. Throughout her career, Patricia has been known for her virtuosic playing and her ability to bring out the emotional depth of the music she performs. She has also been a strong advocate for new music, commissioning and premiering works by some of the most exciting young composers of our time. Today, Patricia continues to perform and record as a soloist and chamber musician. She also teaches at the Juilliard School and is a sought-after guest lecturer and masterclass teacher at universities and conservatories around the world. Her contributions to the world of classical music have been immense, and she is widely regarded as one of the greatest violinists of her generation.
