Evstigney Fomin was a Russian composer who lived during the 18th century. He was born in 1761 in the city of Kazan, which was then part of the Russian Empire. Fomin was born into a family of musicians, and his father was a well-known composer and conductor. The opera tells the story of the Greek myth of Orpheus, who travels to the underworld to rescue his wife Eurydice. Fomin also composed a number of instrumental works, including symphonies, string quartets, and piano sonatas.
