Born on December 23, 1998, in Tokyo, Japan, Kanon showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of three. Her parents, who were both music lovers, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Kanon's early musical education was under the guidance of her mother, who was a piano teacher. She received her first formal training at the age of five when she enrolled in the Yamaha Music School. She quickly progressed through the program and was soon performing in public concerts. At the age of eight, Kanon won her first competition, the Yamaha Music Foundation Piano Competition. In 2010, Kanon was accepted into the prestigious Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo, where she studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and pedagogue, Yuko Ninomiya. During her time at Toho Gakuen, Kanon won numerous awards and competitions, including the 2012 PTNA Piano Competition and the 2013 Japan Classical Music Competition. In 2014, Kanon was awarded a scholarship to study at the Juilliard School in New York City, one of the world's most prestigious music schools. She studied under the guidance of Yoheved Kaplinsky, one of the most respected piano teachers in the world. During her time at Juilliard, Kanon won several awards, including the 2015 Gina Bachauer International Young Artists Piano Competition and the 2016 New York International Piano Competition. Kanon's talent and musicality have been recognized by some of the world's most respected musicians and critics. In 2017, she was invited to perform at the prestigious Verbier Festival in Switzerland, where she received critical acclaim for her performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4. The following year, she was invited to perform at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago, where she performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Marin Alsop. Kanon has also performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orchestra of St. Luke's. She has collaborated with some of the world's most respected conductors, including Leonard Slatkin, Fabio Luisi, and Kent Nagano. In addition to her performances, Kanon is also a dedicated teacher and mentor. She has given masterclasses and workshops in Japan, the United States, and Europe, and has worked with young musicians from around the world. Kanon's repertoire is diverse and includes works by some of the world's greatest composers, including Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. She is known for her technical virtuosity and her ability to convey the emotional depth and complexity of the music she performs. Kanon's recordings have received critical acclaim and have been praised for their technical precision and musicality. Her debut album, released in 2018, features works by Chopin and Liszt and was praised by critics for its "dazzling virtuosity" and "emotional depth." Kanon's talent and dedication to her craft have earned her numerous awards and accolades.
