He was the youngest of three children born to a family of musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Soria showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Soria's parents recognized his talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his mother and later studied with renowned pianist and composer Alberto Williams. Soria's talent was evident, and he quickly became known for his exceptional musical abilities. In 1940, Soria graduated from the National Conservatory of Music in Buenos Aires, where he studied composition with Juan José Castro. He then went on to study with Nadia Boulanger in Paris, where he honed his skills as a composer. Soria's early works were heavily influenced by the music of his native Argentina. He incorporated elements of tango and other traditional Argentine music into his compositions, creating a unique sound that was both modern and rooted in tradition. His early works include the Suite Argentina for piano, which was premiered in Buenos Aires in 1942, and the ballet El Gaucho, which was premiered in Paris in 1946. In the 1950s, Soria began to experiment with new forms and techniques, incorporating serialism and other avant-garde techniques into his compositions. His works from this period include the String Quartet No. 1, which was premiered in Buenos Aires in 1952, and the Piano Sonata No. 2, which was premiered in Paris in 1956. Soria's music continued to evolve throughout the 1960s and 1970s. He began to incorporate electronic music into his compositions, creating a unique blend of acoustic and electronic sounds. His works from this period include the electronic piece Estructuras for tape, which was premiered in Buenos Aires in 1962, and the opera El Cid, which was premiered in Buenos Aires in 1975. Soria's music was widely acclaimed both in Argentina and abroad. He received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including the National Prize for Music in Argentina in 1963 and the Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris in 1970. His music was performed by some of the world's leading orchestras and ensembles, including the New York Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. Soria continued to compose music until his death in 1998. His final works include the String Quartet No. 5, which was premiered in Buenos Aires in 1995, and the electronic piece Tres Movimientos for tape, which was premiered in Buenos Aires in 1997. Today, Soria is remembered as one of Argentina's greatest composers.
