I Solisti Filarmonici Italiani is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences around the world for over three decades. The ensemble was founded in 1981 by a group of young musicians who shared a passion for chamber music and a desire to create a new and innovative approach to classical music performance. The founding members of I Solisti Filarmonici Italiani were all graduates of the prestigious Conservatorio di Musica "Giuseppe Verdi" in Milan, Italy. They included violinists Alberto Martini and Federico Guglielmo, violist Danilo Rossi, cellist Francesco Strano, and double bassist Giuseppe Ettorre. The ensemble was initially formed as a string quintet, but soon expanded to include wind instruments and percussion. From the beginning, I Solisti Filarmonici Italiani set out to create a unique sound that blended the precision and technical virtuosity of classical music with the energy and spontaneity of jazz and other popular music genres. The ensemble's repertoire includes works by classical composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms, as well as contemporary composers like Astor Piazzolla and Ennio Morricone. Over the years, I Solisti Filarmonici Italiani has become known for its dynamic and engaging performances, which have earned the ensemble numerous awards and accolades. In 1983, the ensemble won the prestigious "Premio Abbiati" award from the Italian Association of Music Critics, which recognized the group's outstanding contributions to the world of classical music. One of the highlights of I Solisti Filarmonici Italiani's career was their performance at the 1990 World Cup opening ceremony in Rome, where they played a rousing rendition of the Italian national anthem. The ensemble has also performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. In addition to their live performances, I Solisti Filarmonici Italiani has also released numerous recordings, including a critically acclaimed album of Mozart's complete string quintets. The ensemble's recordings have been praised for their technical excellence and innovative interpretations of classical music. Today, I Solisti Filarmonici Italiani continues to be one of the most respected and beloved classical music ensembles in the world. The group's current members include violinists Federico Guglielmo and Alberto Martini, violist Danilo Rossi, cellist Francesco Strano, and double bassist Giuseppe Ettorre, as well as a rotating cast of wind and percussion players. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, I Solisti Filarmonici Italiani has continued to perform and connect with audiences around the world through virtual concerts and online performances.
