Hillebrand's parents recognized his potential and enrolled him in the Berlin Conservatory of Music, where he received formal training in piano and music theory. He excelled in his studies and graduated with honors. After completing his education, Hillebrand began performing in various concerts and recitals, gaining recognition for his exceptional talent. In 1968, Hillebrand won the prestigious International Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland, which marked the beginning of his illustrious career. He went on to perform in some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Hillebrand's performances were characterized by his technical brilliance, emotional depth, and musical sensitivity. He was known for his ability to bring out the nuances and subtleties of the music, making it come alive for his audience.
