Nuccio D'Angelo was an Italian classical music composer born on October 21, 1955, in Messina, Sicily. He was the youngest of four siblings and grew up in a family that valued music. His father was a music teacher, and his mother was a pianist. D'Angelo's interest in music began at a young age, and he started playing the guitar when he was only six years old. D'Angelo's musical education began at the Conservatory of Music in Messina, where he studied guitar and composition. He later continued his studies at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, where he studied with Oscar Ghiglia, one of the most renowned guitarists of the 20th century. D'Angelo's talent as a composer was evident from an early age, and he won several awards for his compositions while still a student. After completing his studies, D'Angelo began his career as a composer and performer. He performed extensively throughout Europe and the United States, and his compositions were performed by some of the most prestigious orchestras and ensembles in the world. D'Angelo's music is characterized by its lyrical and expressive qualities, and his compositions often incorporate elements of traditional Italian music. One of D'Angelo's most famous works is his guitar concerto, "Metamorphoses," which was commissioned by the New York Philharmonic and premiered in 1993.
