His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Winsemius was exposed to classical music and began playing the piano at the age of four. They enrolled him in the Rotterdam Conservatory of Music, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and composer, Jan Wijn. Winsemius excelled in his studies and graduated with honors. He made his debut performance at the age of 21, playing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
