Richard Urech was born on May 12, 1985, in Zurich, Switzerland. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a professional cellist and his mother a pianist. From a young age, Urech showed a natural talent for music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Urech's parents recognized his potential and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking lessons with renowned violin teachers in Switzerland and quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent. At the age of 12, Urech won his first international competition, the Menuhin Competition in England. This early success propelled Urech's career forward, and he began performing regularly in concerts and recitals throughout Europe. He continued to win competitions and awards, including the prestigious Tibor Varga International Violin Competition in Switzerland and the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis in the United States. Urech's talent and dedication to his craft led him to study at some of the world's most prestigious music schools, including the Juilliard School in New York and the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. He also had the opportunity to study with some of the most renowned violinists of our time, including Itzhak Perlman and Pinchas Zukerman. Throughout his career, Urech has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has also collaborated with many of the world's most celebrated conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, and Zubin Mehta. One of Urech's most memorable performances was his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2010. He performed the Brahms Violin Concerto under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle, receiving a standing ovation from the audience and critical acclaim from music critics. In addition to his performances as a soloist, Urech is also an accomplished chamber musician. He has performed with some of the world's leading chamber ensembles, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet. Urech's dedication to music has earned him numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2012, he was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, one of the most prestigious awards for young musicians in the United States. He has also been awarded the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship and the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award. Despite his success, Urech remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform regularly and is committed to sharing his love of music with audiences around the world.
