Teodora Gheorghiu is a Romanian classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her exceptional talent and musicality. Born on December 22, 1986, in Bucharest, Romania, Teodora showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents, both music teachers, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Teodora's musical education began at the George Enescu Music High School in Bucharest, where she studied with renowned pianist and pedagogue Viniciu Moroianu. She continued her studies at the National University of Music in Bucharest, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance under the guidance of Professor Viniciu Moroianu and a Master's degree in Piano Performance with Professor Viniciu Moroianu and Professor Dana Borșan. During her studies, Teodora participated in numerous national and international piano competitions, winning several awards and prizes. In 2005, she won first prize at the National Piano Competition in Bucharest, and in 2006, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Sinaia, Romania. In 2007, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and in 2008, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Teodora's talent and hard work paid off when she was awarded a scholarship to study at the prestigious Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, Germany, where she studied with Professor Michael Schäfer. During her time in Munich, Teodora had the opportunity to perform in some of the most renowned concert halls in Europe, including the Herkulessaal in Munich and the Konzerthaus in Vienna. Teodora's international career took off in 2010 when she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in San Marino, Italy. This victory led to numerous concert engagements throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. Teodora has performed as a soloist with many orchestras, including the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Romanian National Radio Orchestra, the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Bacau Philharmonic Orchestra. Teodora's repertoire is vast and includes works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, and many other composers. She is particularly known for her interpretations of the music of Franz Liszt, and has been praised for her virtuosity, sensitivity, and musicality. Teodora's performances are characterized by her deep understanding of the music she plays, her technical mastery, and her ability to communicate the emotional content of the music to her audience. Teodora has also been recognized for her recordings, which include works by Liszt, Chopin, and Enescu. Her recording of Liszt's Transcendental Etudes was praised by critics for its technical brilliance and musicality. In 2015, Teodora was awarded the Grand Prize at the International Piano Competition in Rome, Italy, for her recording of Enescu's Piano Sonata No. 3.
