Hendricks made his debut performance at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam in 1974, where he performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5. The performance was a huge success, and it marked the beginning of Hendricks' career as a soloist. He went on to perform with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, and the Berlin Philharmonic. One of Hendricks' most notable performances was his rendition of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in 1985.
