The Aeborsold & Neiweem Piano Duo is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their unique blend of virtuosity and musicality for over two decades. The duo consists of pianists Michael Aeborsold and Joseph Neiweem, who have been performing together since 1998. Michael Aeborsold was born in Chicago and began playing the piano at the age of five. He went on to study at the Juilliard School in New York City and later earned a doctorate in piano performance from the University of Michigan. Joseph Neiweem, also a Chicago native, began playing the piano at the age of six and went on to study at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. He later earned a master's degree in piano performance from the University of Michigan. The duo first met while studying at the University of Michigan and quickly discovered a shared passion for chamber music. They began performing together as a duo and soon gained a reputation for their dynamic and engaging performances. In 1998, they officially formed the Aeborsold & Neiweem Piano Duo and began touring extensively throughout the United States and Europe. One of the highlights of the duo's career was their performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in 2003. They were invited to perform as part of the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage series, which showcases some of the world's most talented musicians. The duo's performance was met with critical acclaim, and they were praised for their technical skill and musicality. In addition to their performances, the Aeborsold & Neiweem Piano Duo has also been recognized for their recordings. Their album, "American Piano Duos," was released in 2005 and features works by American composers such as George Gershwin and Aaron Copland. The album received widespread critical acclaim and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Chamber Music Performance category. The duo has also been recognized for their commitment to education and outreach. They have conducted masterclasses and workshops at universities and music schools throughout the United States and Europe, and have worked with young musicians to help them develop their skills and passion for music.
