Role:EnsembleThe Graham Ashton Brass Ensemble is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with its unique sound for over three decades. Founded in 1983 by Australian trumpeter Graham Ashton, the ensemble has become one of the most respected brass groups in the world. Graham Ashton was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1951. He began playing the trumpet at the age of 10 and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. He went on to study at the Victorian College of the Arts and later at the Royal College of Music in London. After completing his studies, Ashton began his professional career as a trumpeter, performing with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1983, Ashton decided to form his own brass ensemble, with the aim of showcasing the versatility and beauty of brass instruments. He handpicked some of the finest brass players in the world to join him, including trombonist Dudley Bright, horn player Richard Watkins, and tuba player John Fletcher. The ensemble's first performance was at the Wigmore Hall in London, and it was an instant success. Over the years, the Graham Ashton Brass Ensemble has performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and Carnegie Hall. The ensemble has also collaborated with some of the world's most renowned musicians, including pianist Martha Argerich and conductor Sir Simon Rattle. One of the highlights of the ensemble's career was its performance at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. The ensemble was chosen to perform at the opening ceremony, and its rendition of "Summon the Heroes" by John Williams was widely praised. The performance was watched by millions of people around the world and helped to cement the ensemble's reputation as one of the world's leading brass groups. The Graham Ashton Brass Ensemble has also won numerous awards and accolades over the years. In 1990, the ensemble won the prestigious Gramophone Award for Best Chamber Music Recording for its album "Brass from the Masters." The ensemble has also been nominated for several other Gramophone Awards, as well as a Classical Brit Award. In addition to its performances and recordings, the Graham Ashton Brass Ensemble is also committed to education and outreach. The ensemble regularly gives masterclasses and workshops for young musicians, and it has also released several educational recordings aimed at introducing children to classical music. Sadly, Graham Ashton passed away in 2016, but his legacy lives on through the ensemble that he founded. Today, the Graham Ashton Brass Ensemble continues to perform and record, delighting audiences around the world with its unique sound and virtuosic playing. With its commitment to excellence and innovation, the ensemble is sure to remain a fixture in the world of classical music for many years to come.More....
