He was particularly drawn to the works of Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven, and he spent countless hours studying their compositions and techniques. As he grew older, Mazzariello began to experiment with different styles and genres of music. He was particularly interested in the fusion of classical and contemporary music, and he began incorporating elements of jazz, rock, and pop into his compositions. Mazzariello's breakthrough came in 2002 when he won the prestigious International Composition Competition in Rome. His winning piece, a piano concerto titled "Concerto for Piano and Orchestra," was hailed as a masterpiece and brought him international recognition. Over the next few years, Mazzariello continued to compose and perform, gaining a reputation as one of the most innovative and exciting composers of his generation. He collaborated with a wide range of musicians and artists, including jazz pianist Chick Corea and pop singer Elton John. One of Mazzariello's most notable works is his opera "The Last Days of Pompeii," which premiered in Naples in 2008. The opera tells the story of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and the destruction of the city of Pompeii. It features a sweeping score that combines classical and contemporary elements, as well as stunning visual effects and choreography. Another highlight of Mazzariello's career was his collaboration with the Italian pop singer Laura Pausini. In 2013, he composed the music for her album "20 - The Greatest Hits," which went on to become one of the best-selling albums in Italian history. Mazzariello's music is characterized by its emotional depth, technical virtuosity, and innovative use of different musical styles and genres. He was a true pioneer in the fusion of classical and contemporary music, and his work continues to inspire and influence musicians around the world. Tragically, Mazzariello's life was cut short when he died in a car accident in 2015 at the age of 36.
