Ching-Yi Lin is a Taiwanese classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a violinist and conductor. Born on December 25, 1979, in Taipei, Taiwan, Ching-Yi Lin showed an early interest in music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Ching-Yi Lin's early musical education was in Taiwan, where she studied with some of the country's most renowned violin teachers. She quickly gained a reputation as a prodigious talent and began performing in public at a young age. In 1993, at the age of 14, she won first prize in the National Violin Competition in Taiwan, which marked the beginning of her professional career. After completing her studies in Taiwan, Ching-Yi Lin moved to the United States to further her education. She enrolled at the Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied with Dorothy DeLay, one of the most respected violin teachers in the world. Under DeLay's tutelage, Ching-Yi Lin honed her skills and developed a deep understanding of the violin and its repertoire. Ching-Yi Lin's talent and hard work paid off when she won the prestigious Concert Artists Guild International Competition in 2002.
