The New London Orchestra is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1988 by conductor Ronald Corp. The orchestra is based in London, England and has gained a reputation for its innovative programming and high-quality performances. Ronald Corp, who is also a composer and pianist, founded the New London Orchestra with the aim of creating a flexible ensemble that could perform a wide range of repertoire. The orchestra's first concert was held in 1988 at St. John's Smith Square in London, and it quickly gained a following for its fresh and exciting approach to classical music. Over the years, the New London Orchestra has attracted a talented group of musicians, many of whom have become mainstays of the ensemble. These include violinist David Juritz, cellist Richard Harwood, and clarinetist Michael Collins, among others. One of the highlights of the New London Orchestra's early years was its performance of Benjamin Britten's "The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" at the 1990 Proms. The orchestra's dynamic and engaging performance was widely praised, and it helped to establish the ensemble as one of the leading orchestras in the UK. Since then, the New London Orchestra has gone on to perform a wide range of repertoire, from Baroque and Classical music to contemporary works. The orchestra has also collaborated with a number of leading soloists, including pianist Stephen Hough, violinist Tasmin Little, and cellist Julian Lloyd Webber. In addition to its regular concert series, the New London Orchestra has also been involved in a number of special projects and recordings. One of the most notable of these was the orchestra's recording of the complete symphonies of Ralph Vaughan Williams, which was released to critical acclaim in 2002. The New London Orchestra has also been recognized for its contributions to classical music with a number of awards and honors. In 1996, the orchestra was awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society Award for its innovative programming, and in 2001, it received the Gramophone Award for its recording of Vaughan Williams' symphonies. Despite its many achievements, the New London Orchestra remains committed to its founding principles of flexibility and innovation. Under the leadership of Ronald Corp, the orchestra continues to push the boundaries of classical music and to inspire audiences with its dynamic and engaging performances.More....
