Gillian Rae Perry was born on May 12, 1975, in London, England. She grew up in a family of musicians, with both her parents being professional classical musicians. Her mother was a pianist, and her father was a cellist. From a young age, Gillian showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Gillian's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking piano lessons with her mother and later studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London. During her time at the academy, Gillian developed a passion for composition and began writing her own music. After graduating from the academy, Gillian began working as a freelance composer and pianist. She quickly gained a reputation for her innovative and unique compositions, which blended classical and contemporary styles. Her music was often described as hauntingly beautiful, with a strong emotional impact. One of Gillian's early works, "The Nightingale's Lament," was inspired by a poem by William Wordsworth. The piece was performed at the Royal Festival Hall in London and received critical acclaim. It was later recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra and released on CD. In 2001, Gillian was commissioned to write a piece for the opening of the new Millennium Dome in London. The resulting work, "The Dome Symphony," was a grand and ambitious composition that featured a full orchestra, choir, and soloists. The piece was performed to a packed audience and received a standing ovation. Over the years, Gillian continued to compose music for a variety of projects, including film, television, and theater. Her music was featured in several films, including the award-winning documentary "The Last Days," which chronicled the final days of the Holocaust. She also composed the score for the hit television series "The Tudors," which aired on Showtime. In addition to her work as a composer, Gillian was also an accomplished pianist. She performed regularly in concerts and recitals, both as a soloist and as part of an ensemble.
