The piece also incorporates recordings of bicycle sounds and interviews with cyclists. Another notable work by Finkelmeier is "The Whole World Waits," a percussion quartet that was commissioned by the Boston Percussion Group. The piece was inspired by the idea of waiting and features a variety of percussion instruments, including marimbas, vibraphones, and drums. The piece premiered in 2016 and has since been performed by percussion ensembles around the world. In addition to her work as a composer and performer, Finkelmeier is also an educator. She has taught percussion and composition at various institutions, including the New England Conservatory Preparatory School and the Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
