Abreu's siblings were also involved in music, with his brother Gustavo being a conductor and his sister Cecilia being a pianist. Abreu began his musical journey at a young age, learning to play the flute when he was just six years old. He was a student of the world-renowned Venezuelan music education program, El Sistema, which was founded by his father.
