Role:Composer PerformerZachary Reaves was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his mother being a pianist and his father a cellist. From a young age, Reaves showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. He later learned to play the cello and violin, and by the age of ten, he was already composing his own music. Reaves attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied composition under the tutelage of renowned composer John Adams. During his time at Juilliard, Reaves composed several works that received critical acclaim, including his Symphony No. 1, which was premiered by the New York Philharmonic in 2007. After graduating from Juilliard, Reaves moved to Europe to further his studies. He spent several years in Vienna, where he studied with the composer Wolfgang Rihm. During this time, Reaves continued to compose and his works began to gain recognition in Europe. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Ernst von Siemens Music Prize for his contributions to contemporary classical music. Reaves' music is known for its complexity and emotional depth. He often draws inspiration from literature and art, and his works are characterized by their intricate harmonies and use of unconventional instruments. Some of his most notable works include his Piano Concerto No. 1, which was premiered by the Berlin Philharmonic in 2012, and his opera The Tempest, which was commissioned by the Royal Opera House in London and premiered in 2015.
