He was born in Rimini, Italy in 1690 and began his musical studies at a young age. His father, Giovanni Battista Tessarini, was a violinist and composer, and it was under his tutelage that Carlo learned to play the violin. Carlo Tessarini's musical talent was evident from a young age, and he quickly became known as a skilled violinist. He began performing in public at the age of 14 and soon gained a reputation as one of the most talented young musicians in Italy. In 1710, Tessarini moved to Venice, where he continued to perform and study music. He became a member of the prestigious Accademia Filarmonica di Venezia, a society of musicians and composers who were dedicated to the promotion of music in Venice. Tessarini's career as a composer began in earnest in the early 1720s. He wrote a number of works for the violin, including sonatas and concertos, which were well-received by audiences and critics alike. His music was characterized by its virtuosity and technical difficulty, which made it popular with skilled violinists. One of Tessarini's most famous works is his Violin Concerto in D major, which was composed in the early 1720s. The concerto is notable for its use of the solo violin, which is given ample opportunity to showcase its technical prowess. The piece is also notable for its use of the ritornello form, which was a common structure in Baroque music. Tessarini's music was not limited to the violin, however. He also wrote a number of vocal works, including operas and cantatas. His opera La finta vedova, which was first performed in Venice in 1724, was particularly well-received and was performed throughout Italy. Despite his success as a composer, Tessarini continued to perform as a violinist throughout his career. He was known for his virtuosic performances and was highly regarded by his contemporaries. He performed in a number of cities throughout Italy, including Venice, Rome, and Naples. Tessarini's career as a composer and performer came to an end in the mid-1730s. He suffered from a number of health problems, including gout and rheumatism, which made it difficult for him to continue performing. He retired from public life and spent his remaining years in Rimini, where he died in 1766. Today, Carlo Tessarini is remembered as one of the most talented violinists and composers of the Baroque period. His music continues to be performed and recorded, and his contributions to the development of Baroque music are widely recognized.More....
