Ruth Escher was born on May 12, 1985, in Zurich, Switzerland. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Escher showed a natural talent for music and began playing the violin at the age of four. Escher's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She began taking lessons with renowned violin teachers in Switzerland and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional talent. At the age of 12, she won first prize in the Swiss Youth Music Competition, which marked the beginning of her professional career. Escher continued to study music at the Zurich University of the Arts, where she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in violin performance. During her studies, she had the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned violinists in the world, including Maxim Vengerov and Itzhak Perlman. After completing her studies, Escher began performing professionally and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional talent. One of Escher's most notable performances was her debut with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra in 2010. She performed Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5 in A major, which received critical acclaim and established her as one of the most promising young violinists of her generation. Escher has also received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 2012, she was awarded the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award, which is one of the most prestigious awards for young musicians in Switzerland. She was also a finalist in the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis in 2014, which is one of the most prestigious violin competitions in the world. In addition to her performances as a soloist, Escher is also an active chamber musician. She has performed with some of the most renowned chamber ensembles in the world, including the Emerson String Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet.
