Café Tacuba is a Mexican rock band that was formed in 1989 in Ciudad Satélite, Mexico. The band consists of Rubén Albarrán, Emmanuel del Real, Joselo Rangel, and Enrique Rangel. The band's name is derived from a coffee shop in Mexico City called El Café de Tacuba, which was a popular meeting place for artists and intellectuals in the 20th century. The band's early music was heavily influenced by punk rock and new wave, but they quickly began to incorporate elements of traditional Mexican music, such as mariachi and norteño, into their sound. This fusion of styles became known as "rock en español" and helped to establish Café Tacuba as one of the most innovative and influential bands in the genre. Café Tacuba's debut album, "Café Tacuba," was released in 1992 and featured a mix of punk rock, new wave, and traditional Mexican music. The album was a critical and commercial success, and helped to establish the band as a major force in the Latin American music scene. The band's second album, "Re," was released in 1994 and featured a more experimental sound that incorporated elements of electronic music and hip hop. The album was a critical success and helped to further establish Café Tacuba as one of the most innovative and influential bands in the Latin American music scene. In 1999, Café Tacuba released their third album, "Vale Callampa," which featured a more stripped-down sound that focused on acoustic instruments and traditional Mexican music. The album was a commercial success and helped to establish the band as one of the most versatile and dynamic groups in the Latin American music scene. Café Tacuba's fourth album, "Cuatro Caminos," was released in 2003 and featured collaborations with a number of prominent musicians, including David Byrne and Kronos Quartet. The album was a critical and commercial success and helped to establish Café Tacuba as one of the most innovative and influential bands in the world music scene. In 2007, Café Tacuba released their fifth album, "Sino," which featured a more experimental sound that incorporated elements of electronic music and hip hop. The album was a critical and commercial success and helped to further establish Café Tacuba as one of the most innovative and influential bands in the world music scene. Café Tacuba's sixth album, "Jei Beibi," was released in 2017 and featured a more electronic sound that incorporated elements of reggae and dub. The album was a critical and commercial success and helped to establish Café Tacuba as one of the most innovative and influential bands in the world music scene. Throughout their career, Café Tacuba has been known for their innovative and eclectic sound, as well as their socially conscious lyrics.
