The North Texas Chamber Players is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1985 in Denton, Texas. The group was formed by a group of musicians who were interested in performing chamber music together and sharing their love of classical music with audiences in the North Texas area. The ensemble's main members include violinists Julia Bushkova and Felix Olschofka, violist Daphne Gerling, cellist Nikola Ruzevic, and pianist Elvia Puccinelli. All of the members are accomplished musicians who have performed with major orchestras and ensembles around the world. Over the years, the North Texas Chamber Players have performed at a variety of venues throughout the North Texas area, including churches, concert halls, and universities. The group has also been featured on local and national radio programs, including NPR's "Performance Today." One of the highlights of the North Texas Chamber Players' career was their performance at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. The group was invited to perform at the Olympic Village, where they played a program of classical music for athletes and visitors from around the world. The North Texas Chamber Players have also been recognized for their outstanding performances and contributions to the classical music community. In 1998, the group was awarded the "Outstanding Chamber Music Ensemble" award by the Texas Commission on the Arts. They have also been featured in numerous publications, including the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. In addition to their performances, the North Texas Chamber Players are also committed to music education and outreach. The group regularly performs for school groups and community organizations, and they have also established a scholarship fund to support young musicians in the North Texas area.
