Petrovici continued his studies at the National University of Music in Bucharest, where he studied under the guidance of renowned violinists such as Stefan Gheorghiu and Ion Voicu. He graduated with honors in 1968 and went on to pursue a career as a soloist and chamber musician. Throughout his career, Petrovici performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. He was known for his virtuosic technique and his ability to convey deep emotion through his playing. One of Petrovici's most notable performances was his debut with the London Symphony Orchestra in 1972. He performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, and his performance was met with critical acclaim. The Times described his playing as "dazzling," and The Guardian praised his "sensitive and nuanced interpretation." Petrovici also had a successful career as a chamber musician. He was a founding member of the Romanian Trio, which was formed in 1970 and consisted of Petrovici on violin, Valentin Gheorghiu on piano, and Marin Cazacu on cello. The trio performed together for over 30 years and recorded numerous albums, including works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Schubert. In addition to his performances, Petrovici was also a respected teacher. He taught at the National University of Music in Bucharest and was a guest professor at several universities in Europe and the United States. He was known for his dedication to his students and his ability to inspire them to reach their full potential. Petrovici received numerous awards and honors throughout his career. In 1971, he won first prize at the George Enescu International Violin Competition in Bucharest.
