Shlomowitz began playing the piano at a young age and later studied composition at the University of Adelaide. After completing his undergraduate studies, Shlomowitz moved to London to pursue a Master's degree in composition at the Royal College of Music. He later earned a PhD in composition from the University of Huddersfield, where he studied with Richard Barrett and Aaron Cassidy. Shlomowitz's music is known for its playful and experimental nature, often incorporating elements of popular culture and everyday sounds. His compositions often feature unconventional instruments and performance techniques, such as using balloons or toy instruments. One of Shlomowitz's most well-known works is "Popular Contexts," a piece for ensemble that incorporates snippets of popular music and sound effects. The piece was commissioned by the London Sinfonietta and premiered in 2010. Another notable work by Shlomowitz is "Letter Piece," a composition for solo performer that involves the performer reading a letter while simultaneously playing an instrument. The piece has been performed by musicians around the world, including at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and the Darmstadt Summer Course.
