The BRT Philharmonic Chorus is a renowned classical music artist that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for decades. The group was founded in 1950 by the Belgian Radio and Television Broadcasting Company (BRT) and has since become one of the most respected and celebrated choirs in the world. The BRT Philharmonic Chorus was born out of a desire to create a world-class choir that could perform a wide range of classical music repertoire. The group was initially made up of a small number of singers, but over time, it grew in size and reputation. The choir's first conductor was Vic Nees, who led the group for over 25 years and helped establish its reputation as a leading classical music ensemble. One of their most notable collaborations was with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Herbert von Karajan in 1978. The choir's performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Berlin Philharmonic was widely acclaimed and helped cement their reputation as one of the world's leading choirs. Over the years, the BRT Philharmonic Chorus has received numerous awards and accolades for their exceptional performances. In 1987, the choir was awarded the prestigious Prix Italia for their performance of Bach's Mass in B Minor. This award recognized the choir's exceptional musicianship and helped raise their profile even further. In addition to their performances and awards, the BRT Philharmonic Chorus has also been involved in a number of recordings over the years. Their recordings of Bach's St. Matthew Passion and Mass in B Minor are considered to be some of the finest interpretations of these works ever recorded. Today, the BRT Philharmonic Chorus continues to be one of the world's leading classical music ensembles. The choir is made up of over 100 singers and is led by conductor Hervé Niquet. They continue to perform a wide range of classical music repertoire and are widely regarded as one of the finest choirs in the world.
