Isabelle Demers is a renowned classical music artist known for her exceptional skills as a concert organist. Born in Quebec, Canada, in 1977, Demers showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Her parents recognized her talent and enrolled her in music lessons, where she quickly excelled. Demers continued to study music throughout her childhood and teenage years, eventually earning a Bachelor of Music degree from the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal. She then went on to earn a Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied with renowned organist Paul Jacobs. After completing her studies, Demers began performing professionally, quickly gaining recognition for her exceptional talent. She has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York City, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and the Royal Festival Hall in London. In addition to her solo performances, Demers has also collaborated with a number of other musicians and ensembles. She has performed with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, among others. Throughout her career, Demers has received numerous awards and accolades for her performances. In 2008, she was awarded the First Prize in the John Rodland Memorial Organ Competition, and in 2010, she was named the winner of the International Organ Competition Musashino-Tokyo. She has also been awarded the Prix d'Europe, one of Canada's most prestigious music awards. In addition to her performing career, Demers is also a respected educator. She has taught at a number of institutions, including Baylor University in Texas and the University of Michigan. She is currently a professor of organ at Baylor University, where she has been on the faculty since 2009. Demers is known for her innovative and dynamic performances, which often incorporate a wide range of musical styles and genres. She is particularly known for her interpretations of contemporary music, and has premiered a number of new works by composers such as Michael Daugherty and Jennifer Higdon. Despite her many accomplishments, Demers remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to perform and teach, and is widely regarded as one of the most talented and innovative organists of her generation.
