Born on May 7, 1969, in New York City, Chioldi grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a professional trumpet player, and his mother was a singer. From a young age, Chioldi was exposed to music and developed a passion for singing. Chioldi began his formal music education at the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned baritone Mark Oswald. He later went on to study at the Juilliard School, where he received his Bachelor of Music degree. During his time at Juilliard, Chioldi was a member of the Juilliard Opera Center, where he performed in several productions. After completing his studies, Chioldi began his professional career as a member of the Metropolitan Opera's Young Artist Program. He made his debut with the company in 1995, playing the role of the Herald in Wagner's "Lohengrin." Since then, he has gone on to perform in several productions with the Metropolitan Opera, including "La Bohème," "Don Giovanni," and "Rigoletto." Chioldi has also performed with several other major opera companies around the world, including the Royal Opera House in London, the Paris Opera, and the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. He has worked with some of the most renowned conductors in the world, including James Levine, Riccardo Muti, and Plácido Domingo. One of Chioldi's most notable performances was his portrayal of the title character in Verdi's "Rigoletto" at the Metropolitan Opera in 2013. The New York Times praised his performance, saying that he "sang with a rich, dark, and powerful voice that conveyed the character's bitterness and rage." In addition to his work in opera, Chioldi has also performed in several concerts and recitals. He has collaborated with several renowned pianists, including Warren Jones and Martin Katz. He has also performed with several orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Throughout his career, Chioldi has received several awards and honors for his work in classical music. In 1997, he was a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
