Jeewon Park is a renowned classical pianist who has captivated audiences around the world with her virtuosic performances and sensitive interpretations of the classical repertoire. Born in South Korea, Park began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She went on to study at some of the most prestigious music schools in the world and has since established herself as one of the leading pianists of her generation. Park was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1982. Her parents were both musicians, and they recognized her talent for the piano at a young age. She began taking lessons with her mother and quickly progressed, winning her first competition at the age of six. Park's parents were supportive of her musical ambitions, and they encouraged her to pursue a career in music. At the age of ten, Park moved to the United States to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. She continued to excel in her studies, winning numerous competitions and awards. In 2000, she won the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, which helped to launch her career as a professional pianist. Park went on to study at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree. She then continued her studies at the Yale School of Music, where she earned a Master of Music degree and an Artist Diploma. While at Yale, Park studied with renowned pianist Boris Berman, who had a profound influence on her musical development. Park's career as a professional pianist began to take off in the early 2000s. She made her debut with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra in 2002, and has since performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Houston Symphony, and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Park is known for her sensitive and nuanced interpretations of the classical repertoire. She has a particular affinity for the music of Beethoven, and has performed his complete piano sonatas in a series of concerts. She has also recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of the complete piano works of Maurice Ravel. In addition to her performing career, Park is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught at the Peabody Institute and the Yale School of Music, and currently serves on the faculty of the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. She is known for her ability to inspire and motivate her students, and many of them have gone on to successful careers as professional musicians. Park has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In addition to her win at the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, she has also won the Concert Artists Guild Competition and the Young Concert Artists International Auditions. She was named a Steinway Artist in 2004, and was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2007. Despite her many accomplishments, Park remains humble and dedicated to her craft.
