Roumyana Tsacheva is a Bulgarian classical music artist who has made a name for herself as a pianist, chamber musician, and educator. Born on May 5, 1979, in Sofia, Bulgaria, Tsacheva showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. She quickly demonstrated a natural talent for the instrument and began taking lessons with some of Bulgaria's most renowned piano teachers. Tsacheva's early musical education was heavily influenced by the Bulgarian tradition of classical music, which emphasizes a strong technical foundation and a deep understanding of the music's emotional and cultural context. She studied at the National School of Music "Lyubomir Pipkov" in Sofia, where she received a rigorous education in piano performance, music theory, and history. During this time, she also participated in numerous competitions and festivals, winning several awards and accolades for her performances. After completing her studies at the National School of Music, Tsacheva continued her education at the National Academy of Music "Pancho Vladigerov" in Sofia, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance. She then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Piano Performance at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria, where she studied with renowned pianists such as Paul Badura-Skoda and Stefan Vladar. Throughout her career, Tsacheva has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician, both in Bulgaria and abroad. She has appeared in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Musikverein in Vienna, the Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Royal Albert Hall in London. Her performances have been praised for their technical precision, emotional depth, and musical sensitivity. In addition to her work as a performer, Tsacheva is also a dedicated educator. She has taught piano at the National School of Music "Lyubomir Pipkov" in Sofia and has given masterclasses and workshops in Bulgaria, Austria, and the United States. She is known for her patient and supportive teaching style, which emphasizes the importance of developing a strong technical foundation while also encouraging students to explore their own musical creativity. Tsacheva's career highlights include numerous awards and accolades for her performances and recordings. In 2001, she won first prize at the International Piano Competition "Young Virtuosos" in Sofia, Bulgaria. She has also been a finalist and prize winner at several other international competitions, including the Maria Canals International Piano Competition in Barcelona, Spain, and the International Piano Competition "Citta di Marsala" in Italy. In 2010, Tsacheva released her debut album, "Bulgarian Piano Music," which features works by Bulgarian composers such as Pancho Vladigerov, Dimitar Nenov, and Marin Goleminov. The album received critical acclaim and was praised for its sensitive and nuanced interpretations of these lesser-known works. Tsacheva's dedication to promoting Bulgarian classical music has also led her to collaborate with other Bulgarian musicians and composers. In 2015, she premiered a new work by Bulgarian composer Georgi Andreev, titled "Piano Concerto No. 1," with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance was hailed as a triumph, with critics praising Tsacheva's virtuosic playing and the composer's innovative use of Bulgarian folk music motifs.
