Christina Perri is an American singer-songwriter and pianist who has made a name for herself in the world of classical music. Born on August 19, 1986, in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, Perri grew up in a musical family. Her father was a guitarist and her brother was a drummer, and they often played together in a family band. Perri began playing the piano at a young age and quickly developed a passion for music. Perri's musical career began in 2010 when she released her debut single "Jar of Hearts." The song became a massive hit, reaching the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and selling over 3 million copies in the United States alone. The success of "Jar of Hearts" led to Perri signing a record deal with Atlantic Records and releasing her debut album, "Lovestrong," in 2011. "Lovestrong" was a critical and commercial success, reaching the top 5 on the Billboard 200 chart and earning Perri a nomination for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. The album featured a mix of pop and classical influences, with Perri's piano playing and soaring vocals at the forefront. Perri's classical influences can be heard throughout her music, particularly in her use of strings and orchestral arrangements. In 2013, she released a holiday EP titled "A Very Merry Perri Christmas," which featured traditional Christmas songs as well as original compositions. The EP showcased Perri's ability to write and arrange classical music, with lush string arrangements and soaring vocals. In 2014, Perri released her second album, "Head or Heart," which continued to showcase her classical influences. The album featured collaborations with classical musicians such as violinist Lindsey Stirling and cellist Martin Tillman. Perri's piano playing was also prominently featured on the album, with several tracks featuring solo piano arrangements. Perri's classical influences have also led her to collaborate with other classical musicians outside of the pop world. In 2015, she collaborated with composer Hans Zimmer on the soundtrack for the film "The Little Prince." Perri contributed vocals to several tracks on the soundtrack, which featured Zimmer's signature orchestral arrangements. Perri's classical influences have also led her to explore other genres of music. In 2018, she released a country-inspired EP titled "Songs for Carmella: Lullabies & Sing-a-Longs." The EP featured acoustic arrangements and showcased Perri's ability to write in a variety of styles. Throughout her career, Perri has continued to draw inspiration from classical music and incorporate it into her own compositions. Her music has been praised for its emotional depth and powerful vocals, as well as its classical influences. With her unique blend of pop and classical music, Perri has established herself as a talented and versatile musician.
