Role:ComposerBirth:1722Death:1756Period:BaroqueGenre:KeyboardSebastiàn de Albero was a Spanish composer and harpsichordist who lived during the 18th century. He was born in Zaragoza, Spain in 1722, and showed an early aptitude for music. His father was a musician, and it is likely that he received his first musical training from him. Albero went on to study music in Zaragoza, and later in Madrid, where he became a pupil of the famous Italian composer Domenico Scarlatti. Albero's early works were primarily for the harpsichord, and he quickly gained a reputation as a virtuoso performer. He was known for his technical skill and his ability to improvise, and his music was highly regarded by his contemporaries. In addition to his work as a performer, Albero also began to compose music, and his works were soon being performed throughout Spain. One of Albero's most famous works is his collection of sonatas for the harpsichord, which he published in 1763. The collection consists of 23 sonatas, each of which is a masterpiece of Baroque music. The sonatas are characterized by their intricate melodies, complex harmonies, and virtuosic keyboard writing. They are considered to be some of the finest examples of Spanish Baroque music, and are still performed and recorded today. In addition to his work for the harpsichord, Albero also composed a number of vocal works, including cantatas and oratorios. His oratorio "La Resurrección de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo" is considered to be one of his greatest works. It was first performed in Madrid in 1760, and was an immediate success. The oratorio is a powerful and moving work, with a dramatic storyline and beautiful music. Albero's music was highly regarded during his lifetime, and he was considered to be one of the greatest composers of his time. His works were performed throughout Spain, and he was often called upon to perform for royalty and other important figures. Despite his success, however, Albero remained humble and dedicated to his craft. He continued to compose and perform until his death in 1756, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful music that continues to be celebrated today.More....
