He was the youngest of three siblings and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. His father was a pianist, and his mother was a singer, which inspired Leon to pursue a career in music. Leon started playing the piano at the age of five and showed exceptional talent from an early age. He received his first formal training in music at the National Conservatory of Music in Buenos Aires, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist and composer, Alberto Ginastera. Leon's talent and dedication to music were evident from the beginning, and he quickly became one of the most promising young musicians in Argentina. In 1970, Leon moved to Europe to further his studies in music. He enrolled at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, Belgium, where he studied under the tutelage of the legendary pianist and pedagogue, Eduardo del Pueyo. Leon's time in Brussels was a turning point in his career, as he honed his skills and developed his unique style of playing. Leon's talent and hard work paid off when he won the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels in 1973. The competition was one of the most prestigious music competitions in the world, and winning it was a significant achievement for Leon. The victory brought him international recognition and opened doors for him to perform in some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world. After winning the Queen Elisabeth Competition, Leon embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist. He performed in some of the most renowned concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. His performances were always well-received, and he quickly gained a reputation as one of the most talented and versatile pianists of his generation. Leon's repertoire was vast and included works by some of the most celebrated composers in history, such as Beethoven, Chopin, Mozart, and Rachmaninoff. He was particularly known for his interpretations of the works of Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera, who had been his mentor during his early years of training. In addition to his successful career as a concert pianist, Leon was also a respected teacher and mentor to many young musicians. He taught at several prestigious music schools, including the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, the Juilliard School in New York, and the Hochschule für Musik in Munich.
