Mary Sue Berry was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Mary Sue showed a natural talent for music and began taking piano lessons at the age of four. As she grew older, Mary Sue's passion for music only intensified. She began studying at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City at the age of 16, where she focused on piano performance. During her time at Juilliard, Mary Sue had the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned pianists in the world, including Emanuel Ax and Lang Lang. After graduating from Juilliard, Mary Sue began her professional career as a concert pianist. She quickly gained recognition for her technical skill and emotional depth in her performances. Her repertoire included works by some of the greatest composers in history, including Beethoven, Chopin, and Mozart. One of Mary Sue's most notable performances was at Carnegie Hall in 2008. She performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the "Emperor" concerto, with the New York Philharmonic. The performance was met with critical acclaim, with The New York Times calling it "a stunning display of technical mastery and emotional depth." In addition to her performances, Mary Sue also dedicated herself to teaching. She became a professor of piano at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia in 2012, where she worked with some of the most talented young pianists in the world. Throughout her career, Mary Sue received numerous awards and honors for her contributions to classical music. In 2010, she was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who show great potential for a successful career in classical music.
