Born on May 22, 1976, in Pamplona, Spain, Fanlo grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a conductor, and his mother was a pianist, so it was only natural that he would develop a love for music at a young age. He studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Navarra in Pamplona, where he received his Bachelor's degree in cello performance. He then went on to study at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, where he earned his Master's degree in cello performance. After completing his studies, Fanlo began his career as a professional musician. In 2001, he was appointed principal cellist of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra, a position he held for six years. During his time with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra, Fanlo also began to establish himself as a conductor. He studied conducting with maestros such as Antoni Ros Marbà and George Pehlivanian, and he soon began to conduct orchestras himself. In 2006, he was appointed principal conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, a position he held for three years. Fanlo's career continued to flourish, and he soon began to receive invitations to perform with orchestras and conductors around the world. He has performed with some of the most prestigious orchestras in Europe, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Vienna Philharmonic. He has also conducted orchestras in Spain, Italy, Germany, and the United States. One of Fanlo's most notable performances was his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2009. The Berliner Zeitung praised his "sensitive and nuanced playing," and the Berliner Morgenpost called him a "rising star in the world of classical music."
