Benjamín Juárez Echenique was born on May 12, 1985, in Mexico City, Mexico. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Echenique showed a natural talent for music and began studying the piano at the age of four. Echenique's early musical education was under the guidance of his father, who taught him the fundamentals of piano playing and music theory. He also received training from other renowned pianists in Mexico, including Jorge Federico Osorio and Edith Ruiz. At the age of 12, Echenique made his debut as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor. This performance marked the beginning of his career as a concert pianist, and he quickly gained recognition for his exceptional talent and musicality. Throughout his teenage years, Echenique continued to perform as a soloist with various orchestras in Mexico and abroad. He also participated in numerous piano competitions, winning several awards and prizes, including first place in the National Piano Competition of Mexico in 2001 and the International Piano Competition of San Marino in 2003. In 2004, Echenique was awarded a full scholarship to study at the Juilliard School in New York City, one of the most prestigious music schools in the world. There, he studied under the guidance of renowned pianists such as Emanuel Ax and Yoheved Kaplinsky, and honed his skills as a performer and musician. After graduating from Juilliard in 2008, Echenique embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist, performing in major concert halls and festivals around the world. He has collaborated with many renowned conductors and orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the London Symphony Orchestra. Echenique's repertoire is vast and diverse, ranging from classical works by Mozart and Beethoven to contemporary pieces by living composers. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the music of Frederic Chopin, and has been praised for his ability to bring out the emotional depth and complexity of Chopin's compositions. In addition to his career as a performer, Echenique is also a dedicated teacher and mentor to young musicians. He has taught masterclasses and workshops at music schools and conservatories around the world, and is known for his patient and nurturing approach to teaching. Throughout his career, Echenique has received numerous awards and accolades for his musical achievements. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which recognizes outstanding young musicians who show exceptional promise for a significant career in music.
