Barbara Locher was born on May 12, 1942, in Vienna, Austria. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her father being a conductor and her mother a pianist. Locher began playing the piano at a young age and showed exceptional talent. She went on to study at the Vienna Academy of Music, where she received her diploma in piano performance. After completing her studies, Locher began performing professionally and quickly gained recognition for her exceptional talent.
