Terje Nymark is a Norwegian classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a trumpet player, conductor, and composer. Born on May 22, 1971, in Bergen, Norway, Nymark showed an early interest in music and began playing the trumpet at the age of 10. He quickly developed a passion for the instrument and went on to study at the Bergen Music Conservatory, where he received his diploma in trumpet performance in 1993. After completing his studies, Nymark began his professional career as a freelance musician, performing with various orchestras and ensembles throughout Norway and Europe. He quickly gained a reputation as a talented and versatile musician, and his career began to take off. One of the highlights of Nymark's early career was his performance as a soloist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in 1996. He played the trumpet concerto by Joseph Haydn, and his performance was widely praised for its technical skill and musicality. This performance helped to establish Nymark as one of the leading trumpet players in Norway, and he began to receive more and more invitations to perform as a soloist with orchestras and ensembles around the world. In addition to his work as a performer, Nymark also began to establish himself as a conductor and composer. He studied conducting with Jorma Panula and composition with Olav Anton Thommessen, and he began to write his own music and conduct his own performances. One of his early compositions, "Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra," was premiered in 1998 by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, with Nymark as the soloist. Over the years, Nymark has continued to perform as a soloist and conductor, and he has also become a respected teacher and mentor to young musicians. He has taught at the Bergen Music Conservatory and the Norwegian Academy of Music, and he has given masterclasses and workshops around the world. One of the highlights of Nymark's career as a conductor was his appointment as the principal conductor of the Norwegian Wind Ensemble in 2007. He held this position for five years, during which time he led the ensemble in numerous performances and recordings. He also commissioned and premiered several new works for wind ensemble, including his own composition, "Concerto for Trumpet and Wind Ensemble." In addition to his work with the Norwegian Wind Ensemble, Nymark has conducted many other orchestras and ensembles around the world. He has conducted the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, and many others. He has also conducted in countries such as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the United States. Nymark's work as a composer has also been widely recognized and praised. He has written music for a variety of ensembles, including orchestras, wind ensembles, brass bands, and chamber groups. His compositions have been performed and recorded by many leading musicians and ensembles, and he has received numerous awards and commissions for his work. One of the highlights of Nymark's career as a composer was his commission to write a new work for the opening ceremony of the 2016 Bergen International Festival. His composition, "Fanfare for Bergen," was premiered by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bergen Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, and it was widely praised for its energy and excitement.More....
