Apollo & Pan is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2015 by two talented musicians, Apollo and Pan. The ensemble is known for its unique blend of classical and contemporary music, which has earned them critical acclaim and a loyal following. Apollo, the founder and lead violinist of the ensemble, was born in Greece and began playing the violin at the age of five. He studied at the Athens Conservatory and later at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra and the Berlin Philharmonic. Pan, the founder and lead cellist of the ensemble, was born in China and began playing the cello at the age of six. She studied at the Shanghai Conservatory and later at the Juilliard School in New York. She has performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The two musicians met while studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London and quickly discovered a shared passion for classical music. They began performing together and soon realized that they had a unique chemistry that was rare among classical music ensembles. In 2015, they decided to form their own ensemble, which they named Apollo & Pan. The ensemble quickly gained a reputation for its innovative approach to classical music, which blended traditional classical music with contemporary styles and genres. One of the highlights of the ensemble's early career was their performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London in 2016. The concert was a sell-out and received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The ensemble's performance of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto was particularly praised for its emotional depth and technical virtuosity. Since then, Apollo & Pan has gone on to perform at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, and the Berlin Philharmonic in Germany. They have also collaborated with some of the world's leading musicians, including pianist Lang Lang and conductor Gustavo Dudamel. In 2018, the ensemble released their debut album, which was titled "Apollo & Pan: Classical Meets Contemporary." The album featured a mix of classical and contemporary music, including works by Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart, as well as original compositions by Apollo and Pan. The album was a critical and commercial success, earning the ensemble several awards and nominations. It was named "Album of the Year" by Classic FM, and was nominated for a Grammy Award in the "Best Classical Crossover Album" category. In addition to their performances and recordings, Apollo & Pan are also committed to music education and outreach. They regularly give masterclasses and workshops for young musicians, and have established a scholarship program to support talented young musicians from disadvantaged backgrounds.
