His father, Mariano Oudrid, was a well-known composer and conductor, and Cristobal grew up surrounded by music. As a child, Cristobal studied piano and composition with his father. He also studied at the Madrid Conservatory, where he was a student of the composer and conductor Francisco Asenjo Barbieri. Oudrid showed great talent as a composer, and his works were soon being performed in Madrid and other cities in Spain. In 1850, Oudrid was appointed conductor of the Teatro Real in Madrid, one of the most prestigious opera houses in Spain. He held this position for several years, during which time he conducted many operas and other works by Spanish and foreign composers. Oudrid's most famous work is his zarzuela "El Molinero de Subiza," which was first performed in Madrid in 1856. The zarzuela is a type of Spanish musical theater that combines music, dance, and spoken dialogue. Oudrid also composed several other zarzuelas, including "La Gran Via," "La Venganza de la Petra," and "La Casa de Tócame Roque." These works were also well-received by audiences in Spain and other countries. In addition to his work as a composer and conductor, Oudrid was also a music critic and a teacher. He wrote articles for several newspapers and magazines, and he taught composition and piano at the Madrid Conservatory. Oudrid died in Madrid in 1877, at the age of 52.
