Stephen Buzard is a renowned classical music artist who has made a name for himself as a talented organist, conductor, and composer. Born in 1986 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Buzard showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of four. He later discovered the organ and fell in love with its rich, complex sound. Buzard's musical education began at the age of seven when he started taking piano lessons. He later studied organ with Dr. Edward Alan Moore and Dr. Ann Labounsky, both of whom were influential in shaping his musical style and technique. Buzard also studied conducting with Dr. Robert Page and Dr. Paul Schultz, and composition with Dr. Nancy Galbraith. Buzard's talent as an organist was recognized early on, and he won numerous awards and competitions throughout his youth. In 2004, he was awarded the prestigious AGO (American Guild of Organists) National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance, which helped launch his career as a professional musician. After completing his undergraduate studies at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Buzard went on to earn a Master of Music degree from Yale University, where he studied with renowned organist Thomas Murray. He later earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Michigan, where he studied with James Kibbie. Throughout his career, Buzard has performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the Royal Festival Hall in London, and the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris. He has also performed with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to his work as a performer, Buzard is also an accomplished composer and arranger. His compositions have been performed by numerous ensembles, including the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the Yale Schola Cantorum. He has also arranged music for organ and orchestra, including a critically acclaimed arrangement of Gustav Holst's "The Planets." Buzard's talent and dedication to his craft have earned him numerous awards and accolades throughout his career. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Prix de Virtuosité from the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève in Switzerland. He has also been awarded the AGO's highest honor, the S. Lewis Elmer Award, for his contributions to the field of organ music. Despite his many accomplishments, Buzard remains humble and dedicated to his craft. He continues to perform, compose, and teach, and is committed to sharing his love of music with others.
