He was born into a family of musicians, with his father being a conductor and his mother a pianist. From a young age, Jansons was exposed to classical music and began playing the piano at the age of five. Jansons showed great talent and passion for music from a young age, and he began studying at the Emils Darzins Music School in Riga at the age of seven. He continued his studies at the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music, where he studied piano under the guidance of Professor Arnis Zandmanis. In 2002, Jansons won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Tallinn, Estonia. This was a major achievement for the young musician and helped to launch his career. He went on to win several other competitions, including the International Piano Competition in Rome in 2004 and the International Piano Competition in Valencia in 2005. Jansons began performing professionally at a young age, and he quickly gained a reputation as a talented and dynamic pianist. He has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the New York Philharmonic. One of Jansons' most notable performances was his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic in 2006. He performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, and his performance was met with critical acclaim. The Berliner Zeitung praised Jansons' "brilliant technique and musicality," and the Berliner Morgenpost called him a "pianist of the highest order."
